Frequently Asked Questions
How do I enter the BYCAC 2012?
Entry fee to the event is £39.00. Entry forms can be found at the Carpin' On 2012 Carp Show in March (click here) or in Crafty Carper magazine from the April 2012 issue onwards – click here to subscribe.
What is the age limit?
You need to be aged 17 or under on 1st of August 2012.
Do I need a parent or guardian?
Yes, you will need a parent or guardian aged 18 or over with you at all times during the event. If you qualify for the 48-hour final your parent/guardian will also need to bivvy up overnight at the event outside your marked swim area (for health and safety reasons). This person will be responsible for you whilst you are on site.
When will I be notified of my chosen eliminator date?
You will be notified in writing of the day of your eliminator no later than 5th July 2012. Should you wish to take part on a particular day please mark this clearly on the entry form; places for eliminator dates are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Are there official rules for the event?
Yes. You will be sent a copy of these with your entry confirmation letter. You will need to sign and return the slip at the bottom to confirm your entry. If we do not receive the signed rule confirmation we reserve the right to cancel your place.
If I cancel my place will I receive a refund of the entry fee?
No refunds will be given on cancellation of your entry.
How many rods can I fish?
You are permitted to fish two rods at the event (two rods in the water at any one time), however, you can have multiple rods ready to be cast out. You are also allowed a spod and marker rod.
Do I have to provide my own fishing gear and bait?
Yes, no fishing tackle or bait is supplied other than our own official weighing equipment. You will be required to have your own unhooking mat and a sack is advisable should you catch two fish at once.
Will there be catering on site?
Yes, there is a catering van on site for the duration of the event, serving hot and cold snacks and drinks.
What time do I have to register on the day of my eliminator?
You must register between 6.30 a.m. and 7.00 a.m. on the morning of your eliminator – late registration could mean you won’t be able to fish.
Do I need an EA Rod Licence to fish the event?
Yes, you are allowed to fish two rods at the event, so if you are aged 12 or over you will need a current EA coarse fishing licence. All entrants will need to show valid fishing licences before the eliminator sessions commence; if entrants do not have licences with them on the day of the event, they will not be allowed to fish, so please make sure your licences are in date and with you on arrival at the event.
